The Hill of Tara was the place of coronation of Ireland's pre-Christan kings and is one of the most famous sites in Ireland. Large earthworks on the hill are inside the Iron Age enclosure of Hill Fort. In the middle of Hill Fort are two yet older linked Ring Forts...

A prehistoric phallic symbol stands n the centre of The Hill of Tara and is called Lia Fail, the Stone of Destiny. The Hill of Tara is also associated with the prehistoric goddess Medb or Maeve and the Hill Fort of Rath Maeve lies one half-mile south of Tara. Tara lies north of Dublin near the town of Dunshaughlin.
